University of Basra faculty member publishes scientific research in Chinese journal Scopus
Dr. Wissam Razzaq Mutashar, an instructor at the University of Basra's Marine Science Center, has published a scientific research paper in collaboration with other researchers titled "Quantifying the Level of Erosion-Induced Hazard on Riverbank of Shatt Al-Arab".
Quantifying the Level of Erosion-Induced Hazard on Riverbank"
in the journal
(Natural Hazards Research)
published by Elsevier in the People's Republic of China.
The journal is concerned with publishing research and studies in the disciplines of geology, geophysics, geochemistry, petrology, surveying and instrumentation.
The research aims to develop practical assessment tools for bank protection to ensure the sustainability of water resources.
The research published in Scopus 2Q with an impact factor (4.1) addressed the development of a safety factor to assess the erosion and erosion processes that occur in tidal rivers, such as the Shatt Al-Arab River, where this factor depends mainly on the ratio between the critical shear stress of the soil and the shear stress resulting from the water currents surrounding the banks affected by erosion, taking into account the difference between the two tidal states.
This achievement is a reflection of the fruitful scientific cooperation between the University of Basra and international academic institutions, which enhances the university's position in the field of international research.
