The Faculty of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on nanoclay, a hope for agriculture in southern Iraq.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of nanoclay as a newly discovered and developed material with unique potential to transform desert lands into arable land.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Intisar Jameel Hamad, included a definition of nanomaterials, clarifying their characteristics and properties, and identifying their most important types used in various medical, biomedical and industrial applications.
The workshop recommended that this material should be manufactured locally and tested on sandy lands in southern Iraq in order to increase vegetation cover and productivity of vegetables and fruits.
