The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Basra, under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Sarmad Ghazi Mohammed, and with the participation of students, employees and professors of the Faculty, organized an afforestation campaign to plant a group of trees, shrubs and roses to achieve the goals of sustainable development and provide a healthy and clean environment, in conjunction with the initiative of the Prime Minister to plant five million trees and palm trees and in implementation of the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This initiative aims to increase the area of green spaces, restore and protect natural forests, while giving more attention to restoring cultivated areas and planting new green spaces.
This step comes as an opportunity for national participation in preserving nature and encouraging interest in planting trees and plants in Iraq to enhance wildlife and reduce the climate change that the country has been experiencing in recent years, which has negatively affected the lifestyle.
