Dr. Qutaiba Abdulkarim Qasim, an instructor at the University of Basra's College of Pharmacy, attended a UNESCO-USA meeting on sustainable development.
The meeting aimed to establish important principles of development, including sustainable economic growth and sustainable social development, as well as sustainable protection of the environment and natural resources.
Dr. Qutaiba explained: We received a special invitation to attend the UNESCO education meeting. On sustainable development and its social, economic and environmental dimensions as an important global axis for all countries, the meeting addressed sustainable development as an international socio-economic term whose first goal is to improve the living conditions of every member of society.
The meeting also discussed the human activities responsible for the dangers to the future of humanity as a whole, such as air pollution, atmospheric emissions, global warming, and the melting of ice at the poles, which is accompanied by rising sea levels that threaten serious natural disasters.
