Master's thesis at the University of Basra investigates some ketone derivatives
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's College of Pharmacy investigated the preparation, characterization and bioactivity study of some new derivatives of unsaturated ketones of clotrimazole.
The thesis, submitted by student Ali Hussein Shinawa, aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the substances as antifungal agents against Candida albicans through established testing protocols in order to demonstrate the properties of the compounds as antifungal agents.
The thesis examined the potential of clotrimazole as a base compound in the development of untested hepatic compounds, specifically clotrimazole-chalcone derivatives. A series of these hepatic compounds were prepared and characterized, and their efficacy against fungal organisms related to the pharmaceutical efficacy of chalcone and imidazole was exploited.
