University of Basra master's thesis examines the Arab-Israeli conflict
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's Faculty of Education and Humanities examined the Arab-Israeli conflict in the memoirs of Iraqi and Egyptian politicians and military personnel, 1947-1967.
The thesis, submitted by student Wassan Karim Assaf, aimed to answer questions about whether personal memoirs can give a clear picture of the nature of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The thesis concluded that the memoirs provided important insights into the conflict by revealing the Arabs' rejection of the 1947 partition resolution and the poor military planning and coordination that led to repeated defeats.
