The University of Basra basketball team qualifies for the round of 16 in the Iraqi Universities Tournament 

The University of Basra basketball team qualified for the round of 16 in the qualifiers of the Iraqi Universities Championship held under the auspices of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Agency and the Iraqi Federation for University Sports and held at the host Ashur University in Baghdad for the period from 9 to 13 March 2025. 

On the atmosphere of the matches and qualification, the head of the delegation, Dr. Thamer Kazem Erhaim, said, "We were able to overcome three universities, namely Tikrit University, the future and Karkh University, with a deserved victory and without loss and victory over three other universities such as Shatt Al-Arab University, Northern Technology and the National University of Science to top our group and qualify for the 16th round in this tournament, and we are determined - God willing - and with our heroic players and coaches to snatch the first place and return with the championship cup."
