The ministerial committee to follow up on the National Afforestation Day activities at the University of Basra
The President of the University of Basra, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazim, received the ministerial committee in charge of following up on the activities of the National Afforestation Day, which included colleges in Bab Al-Zubair and Karma Ali, as well as Basra Oil and Gas University, in implementation of the plan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in conjunction with the initiative of the Prime Minister to plant five million trees and palm trees.
The committee, accompanied by the university president and his assistant for administrative affairs, carried out a campaign to plant a group of shrubs in the presidential gardens, which will preserve the environment, expand green spaces and protect vegetation.
The President of the University of Basra pointed out that this step comes as an opportunity for national participation in preserving nature, combating climate change and encouraging interest in planting trees and plants in Iraq to enhance wildlife and get rid of other environmental challenges to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
