For sustainable development in the preservation of underwater life. University of Basra organizes a course on closed fish farming
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a course entitled: "Closed culture systems from an environmental and economic perspective".
The course aimed to introduce the importance of using closed fish farming systems as an alternative to traditional methods in order to develop sustainable development plans to preserve underwater biodiversity and rationalize the waste of water resources.
The course, which was lectured by Dr. Abdul Amir Rahim Jassim, explained the advantages of closed farming systems, including effective rationalization of water, protection of biodiversity, minimizing the damage of medicines and chemicals to the environment, reducing pollution of the aquatic environment and preventing the spread of diseases among fish, not to mention its economic benefits.
