For sustainable development in the protection and development of underwater systems A master's thesis at the University of Basra investigates the histological study of the gills and livers of two species of fish.
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's Faculty of Agriculture investigated the histological study of the gills and livers of two species of fish living in two different environments: Hawr Sharq al-Hamar and Shatt Al-Basra Canal in southern Iraq.
The thesis, submitted by master's student Sara Khalaf Abdul Jabbar, aims to assess the extent of histological adaptations that may result from a change in the fish's environment, especially the tissues of the gills and liver, of two species of fish that inhabit two different aquatic environments.
The thesis concluded that fish living in Shatt Al-Basra Canal suffer from significant respiratory issues due to pollution, as well as observing that fish growth in Shatt Al-Basra Canal area is less compared to the other area.
