The Faculty of Science at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on prevention strategies and the economic impact of foot-and-mouth disease.
The scientific lecture aimed to identify the virus that causes the disease, the possibility of transmission from animals to humans, its impact on humans and animals, and some important prevention methods.
The lecture, which was lectured by Nour Saeed Abdullah, highlighted the difficulty of controlling foot-and-mouth disease due to the variable nature of this virus and the lack of sufficient diagnostic methods, while discussing the very large economic impact caused by this type of virus.
The importance of vaccines and isolation of infected animals to prevent the spread of the disease among animals was stressed, in addition to emphasizing control programs in all their forms.
