For Sustainable Development and Green Chemistry Applications, University of Basrah Organizes a Course on the Extraction of Trace Elements Using the CPE Method
The Marine Science Center at University of Basrah organized a course entitled: "The Role of CPE in Improving Extraction Efficiency and Reducing Environmental Impact."
The course aimed to address sustainable development issues by minimizing the environmental impact of chemicals, as well as reducing aquatic pollution, not to mention the economic benefits of this method.
The course, presented by Dr. Bassam Ashour Rashid, addressed the importance of cloud point extraction (CPE) as a method used to separate and extract trace elements. This method has received significant attention because it aligns with sustainable development plans and the principle of green chemistry. It also aligns with the principles of green chemistry, as well as because the organic solvents used in this method are less toxic and less abundant than the solvents used in traditional extraction methods. Furthermore, it is simple, fast, and highly efficient, and can be applied using certain ions, such as copper, in water and environmental samples.
