The University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on Introduction to Epigenetics
The College of Education at Qurna in the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar on an introduction to epigenetics.
The seminar, conducted by Dr. Hasna Amer Mhaos, aimed to explore the meaning of epigenetics and its role in regulating gene expression, which explains the continuous and mutual interaction between organisms and their surrounding environment.
As part of its discussion on the concept of epigenetics, the seminar clarified some pathways through which gene expression traits are influenced. Among the most prominent are certain mutations in the genetic material DNA and the associated histone proteins, which play a significant role in regulating gene expression in terms of activation or repression.
