University of Basra organizes a scientific lecture on estimating the parameters of a new composite distribution
The Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture titled "Finding the best estimate of the parameters of a new complex distribution".
The lecture, presented by Iman Qais Abdulrahman, included deriving a complex probability distribution (Pareto-exponential truncated) and analyzing its properties and parameters using different estimation methods, such as maximum likelihood, moments, and fractional estimates.
The study used simulation in R 4.0.5 to compare the accuracy of the estimates using the MSE criterion, and the results showed the superiority of the maximum likelihood method. The model was also applied to real data related to machine failure times, which confirmed the accuracy of the proposed estimation method.
