University of Basrah Organizes Workshop on Writer Abdul-Jabbar Dawood Al-Basri
The Center for Basra and Arabian Gulf Studies organized a panel discussion to review the biography of poet, novelist, and literary critic Abdul-Jabbar Dawood Al-Basri.
The course, presented by lecturer Mohsen Nayef Shabib, focused on the biography of writer Abdul-Jabbar (1930-2002 AD). Abdul-Jabbar was born in Al-Matiha village, Abu Al-Khaseeb district and earned a Bachelor's degree in Law from Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad. He worked in several cultural institutions, holding positions in major newspapers as an editor of the literary pages and as an editorial secretary for prominent literary magazines, including Al-Aqlam and Baghdad. He also contributed to the enrichment of poetry, short stories, novels, and criticism, chairing numerous sessions of Al-Murbad Poetry Festival and establishing the Basra Brigade Literary Club.
