University of Basra organizes a course on the extraction of vegetable oils
The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized a training course on extracting vegetable oils from the seeds of different crops, with the aim of introducing oil crops and methods of extracting oils from them.
The course aims to introduce oil crops and oil extraction methods.
The course, which was lectured by Dr. Zainab Ahmed Abdulrazak and Dr. Sondos Kamel Jabbar, included the classification of oil crops according to the growing season, analyzing the composition and physiological functions of oils, as well as the importance of oils in nutrition, sensory quality, and manufacturing.
The different extraction methods were also reviewed, with a practical explanation of the sextolite apparatus and a laboratory experiment for solvent extraction of oil.
