University of Basrah Organizes the Third Patent Conference and Exhibition
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the Iraqi Innovation and Creativity Center and the Basra Pharmacists Syndicate, organized the third Patent Conference for the College of Pharmacy and the twenty-first for the Innovation and Creativity Center, under the slogan "University of Basrah: A Beacon of Creativity and Innovation."
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Jibran, explained that the goal of holding this conference is to benefit from patents issued by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control in the medical, agricultural, engineering, and pure sciences. This is achieved through the cooperation of universities, investors, businessmen, and entities capable of transforming these innovations and patents into practical applications that are included in the implementation of projects that serve society in these fields.
Jibran added: "During the conference, a number of (60) submitted patents were reviewed and discussed with their owners, with the aim of achieving joint cooperation and coordination, and transforming these patents into well-thought-out practical applications." Regarding the recommendations resulting from the conference, a committee was formed to draft the recommendations and issue the final conference statement.
Dr. Jibran explained that a scientific arbitration committee was formed to oversee the submitted patents and select the most appropriate ones. The "Creativity Shield" was awarded to the top patent in each field, including medicine, engineering, agriculture, and applied sciences.
At the conclusion of the conference, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy distributed certificates and medals to the patent holders, participants, and the conference's technical and preparatory committees.
