University of Basrah Organizes a Symposium on the Phenomenon of Divorce, Domestic Violence, and Their Effects
The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a symposium entitled: The Phenomenon of Divorce and Domestic Violence, Their Effects, and Proposed Solutions.
The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of family counseling and the law, as they are two fundamental pillars for achieving family stability and reducing conflicts that could lead to family disintegration.
The symposium, presented by Dr. Hana Abdul-Nabi Al-Abbadi, a lecturer at the College of Education for Girls and a member of the Psychological Counseling Unit, and Dr. Abdul-Aali Hamid Al-Tamimi, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs at Al-Kunooz Private University, College of Administration and Economics, explained family counseling and the provision of psychological and social support to couples and individuals by raising awareness of effective communication methods and peaceful problem-solving, which reduces the incidence of violence and divorce. It also highlighted the regulatory and decisive role of law through the enactment of legislation that protects everyone's rights and establishes mechanisms for reconciliation and settlement.
The symposium recommended strengthening the role of family counseling and developing laws to ensure family stability and protect it from disintegration.
