University of Basrah Organizes a Symposium on Drugs: Their Plant Sources and Toxic Effects on Humans
The College of Science at the University of Basrab organized a symposium on drugs, their plant sources, and their toxic effects on humans.
The symposium aimed to shed light on plants with toxic and narcotic effects and their impact on human health and public life.
The symposium, presented by Dr. Widad Mazban Taher, addressed the most important plants used in our daily lives, but which have narcotic and dangerous effects on human life, daily behavior, and social and economic relationships. These plants include cannabis, poppy, datura, qat, and coca.
The symposium recommended caution against excessive use of these plants in large doses, given their toxic risks to human life, and to avoid their cultivation and propagation.
