University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Phytoremediation Mechanisms for Heavy Metals
The College of Marine Sciences at the University of Basrah organized a workshop titled “Phytoremediation Mechanisms for Heavy Metals in Soil and Groundwater.”
The workshop aimed to introduce the phytoremediation technique and assess the economic feasibility of applying it in polluted areas, highlighting its growing importance in reducing environmental pollution through natural and sustainable means.
Presented by Dr. Dunia Khairallah Khassaf Al-Khuza’i, the workshop provided detailed insights into the biological mechanisms used by plants to remove pollutants—particularly heavy metals—from soil and groundwater.
