The University of Basra Organizes Workshop on the Economic Impact of Drug Trade
The College of Administration and Economics, in collaboration with the Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra, organized an educational workshop titled "The Economic Impact of the Drug Trade in Iraq and Basra Governorate."
The workshop, presented by lecturer Jaafar Ghazi, covered the negative impacts of the drug trade on the local economy, highlighting the increase in financial burdens on the state and the disintegration of families and society.
It also focused on the connection between drugs and rising crime rates, violence, and the deterioration of human capital. The workshop recommended intensifying awareness campaigns, providing psychological and social support, creating job opportunities for youth, and organizing recreational activities to enhance community awareness of the risks associated with this phenomenon.
