University of Basrah Organizes an Educational Seminar on the Scourge of Drugs and Their Health and Societal Impact on University Students
The College of Administration and Economics in Al-Qurna at the University of Basrah organized an educational seminar entitled "The Scourge of Drugs and Their Health and Societal Impact on University Students."
The seminar, presented by Dr. Arafat Nasser Al-Youssef and Colonel Ali Hamid Mohsen, Director of the Legal Department at the Basra Police Command, aimed to raise students' awareness of the dangers of drugs. It addressed the medical definition of drugs, the reasons for their use among university students, their types, and ways to communicate with security agencies to report cases of drug use or trafficking on campus.
The seminar made several recommendations, including: urging students to report cases of drug use via toll-free numbers that guarantee confidentiality; educating students about not consuming food or drinks from unknown sources; educating parents about not leaving drugs containing narcotic substances within reach of young people; educating them about avoiding bad friends; and explaining the economic and social effects of addiction.
