University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Consumer Protection from the Risks of Artificial Intelligence
The College of Law at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on consumer protection from the risks of artificial intelligence tools.
The workshop aimed to identify the legal problems faced by people when implementing tools powered by artificial intelligence that can operate autonomously.
The workshop included a lecture by Murtaja Dawood Salman, a lecturer at the college. He explained that if the injured party is a consumer who lacks knowledge of the nature of the operation of artificial intelligence tools and cannot obtain compensation for the damages in accordance with current civil liability rules, the basis for the injured party's recourse should be based on the theory of bearing responsibility, or what is known as the "No Risk, No Reward" rule. The recourse should be against the person who benefited from the use of artificial intelligence tools, whether materially or morally.
