University of Basrah Holds a Scientific Conference Dedicated to Student Graduation Research
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah held its 13th Annual Student Scientific Conference to discuss the graduation research projects of fifth-year students for the 2024–2025 academic year. The conference was attended by the President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kazem.
The primary objective of the conference was to review the latest research developments across various veterinary disciplines and to foster a spirit of academic competition among students.
A total of 39 scientific papers were presented during the conference, including 26 papers in basic sciences and 13 in clinical sciences. These papers were evaluated by two academic committees composed of faculty members from various specializations within the College of Veterinary Medicine.
In his opening remarks, the University President stated:
“Today, we gather for the Student Graduation Research Conference, bearing witness to a significant academic milestone that adds to the ongoing record of achievements made by the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basrah. This conference has evolved beyond a routine annual event to become a well-established academic tradition, embodying the fruits of the tireless efforts made by our students over the years, under the guidance and support of a distinguished group of professors and experts who spared no effort in their mentorship and encouragement—both academically and morally.”
He added:
“The research presented today is not merely a requirement for graduation; rather, it is a genuine reflection of the academic excellence attained within our colleges. It also serves as evidence of the university’s commitment to being a platform for creativity and innovation, as well as a foundation for graduating a generation capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological advancements, and contributing meaningfully to society and the livestock sector.”
At the conclusion of the conference sessions, Dr. Jalal Yassin Mustafa, Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, announced the names of the students whose research projects were awarded the top ranks.
First place was awarded to the research project by student Noor Yousif Jasim, supervised by Dr. Thaer Ramadan.
Second place went to the project by student Areej Ali Saleh, under the supervision of Dr. Jalal Yassin.
Third place was awarded to student Zainab Fares Al-Emarah, supervised by Dr. Wasfi Aboud Al-Masoudi.
Fourth place was secured by student Shahd Jasim Yassin, under the supervision of Dr. Asmaa Sharhan.
