University of Basra organizes an awareness workshop on intellectual extremism leading to terrorism
The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Basra organized an awareness workshop on the topic of intellectual extremism leading to terrorism.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Rafif Abdulhafiz Al-Riyahi from the Faculty of Education for Girls, included educating students about the dangers of extremist thought and its negative effects on the individual and society, and emphasizing the importance of moderate thought in building a healthy society.
The workshop touched on the factors that cause extremism, including political, social and economic factors, and that extremism is not a purely individual behavior but a product of complex environments.
The lecturer stressed the need to reject violence and intellectual sectarianism to protect students from being drawn towards extremist behaviors.
