University of Basra PhD thesis examines efficiency improvements for desalination plant
A doctoral thesis at the University of Basra's College of Engineering investigated efficiency improvements and mathematical modeling of a reverse osmosis desalination plant.
The thesis, submitted by student Haider Abdul Ridha Khanfar, aims to expand the limits of variables to reach critical levels of concentrations and temperatures that can significantly affect the performance of the desalination plant.
The thesis consisted of five chapters in which the student discussed the reliance on variables to determine the operating conditions of the GARO2 desalination plant in Karma Ali, north of Basra. On the other hand, a long-term operation for six months starting from 1/1/2022 and ending on 6/30/2022 was adopted, during which the plant's performance was monitored using feed water from the Shatt Al Arab.
