University of Basra organizes a workshop on plastic pollution and its health effects
The Faculty of Science at the University of Basra organized a workshop on plastic pollution: The invisible silent killer in our bodies.
The workshop aimed to understand the environmental impacts, health risks and ways to address plastic pollution.
The workshop, which was lectured by Sara Samir Yacoub, included the importance of plastic pollution as an environmental issue, explaining the negative effects of micro-sized plastics and their health associations and common diseases with the pollution of the environment with plastic waste, especially cancer, and explaining the optimal solutions to legalize them.
The workshop recommended that plastic waste recycling or reuse should be implemented to minimize the effects of plastic pollution.
