University of Basra PhD thesis examines the inclusion of an oxidation process stage in the SBR operating cycle
A doctoral thesis at the University of Basra's College of Engineering has investigated the inclusion of an advanced oxidation process (AOP) stage in the operation cycle of a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) for the treatment of oily wastewater.
The thesis, submitted by student Mudhar Hassan Kataa, aims to treat oily wastewater generated in the Hamdan Industrial Zone in Basra Governorate, southern Iraq, by incorporating advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) into the SBR cycle time. This goal was achieved through the construction and installation of an experimental SBR device in the fluid mechanics laboratory.
The thesis included five chapters in which the student discussed the raw oily wastewater from the neutralization tank at the wastewater treatment plant in Hamdan Industrial Area (the source of oily wastewater generation) and transported it to the experimental work site.
