University of Basra PhD thesis on beta-aminocarbonyl compounds
A PhD thesis at the Faculty of Science, University of Basra, titled "Synthesis of nitrogenous organic compounds coordinated with some important transition metals and their study as anticancer activity"
The thesis submitted by student Zahraa Fadel Abbas aimed to prepare Schiff bases derived from β-hydroxy naphthaldehyde and azo compounds derived from β-naphthol, study the effect of hydrogen bonding on Schiff base ligands, and study the biological efficacy of copper complexes as anticancer agents.
The thesis included the preparation of Schiff base lacanders from the condensation reaction of aniline derivatives with β-hydroxy naphthaldehyde, the preparation of azo dye lacanders from the reaction of diazonium salts with β-naphthol, the preparation of copper-nickel-cobalt complexes for these lacanders, and the preparation of the crystal structure of one of the complexes.
