University of Basra leads the way in registering the first isolate of Bacillus cereus
A research team at the University of Basra's College of Veterinary Medicine, consisting of Dr. Susan Abdul Jabbar Abdul Aziz, Dr. Alia Sabti Jassim, and fifth-year student Jannat Khalid Nouri, recorded the first H1 strain of Bacillus cereus at the level of Iraq and the province.
The research team isolated the bacterium from canned cat food and six isolates after it was diagnosed by genetic techniques and matched with the isolates in the World Genome Bank, where it was diagnosed as H1 and saved with a reference number in the World Genome Bank
