University of Basra organizes a seminar on hemorrhagic fever
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Basra organized a seminar on hemorrhagic fever with a wide academic attendance.
The seminar aimed to introduce hemorrhagic fever, its pathogenesis, how it is transmitted from animals to humans, and how to prevent and limit its spread.
The seminar, which was attended by a number of faculty members, included the prevalence of hemorrhagic fever in Iraq in general and Basra specifically, the means used to eliminate the disease vector and how to protect those who come into contact with animals from veterinarians, butchers and citizens who consume meat, with a presentation of the latest studies on this disease and means of protection from it.
The seminar recommended the need for concerted efforts between the university, the veterinary hospital and the local government to conduct awareness campaigns to educate the community and other therapeutic measures, including continuous spraying of animals and their roosts.
