University of Basra research discusses the diagnostic value of chest ultrasound
A research paper at the University of Basra's Faculty of Medicine discusses the diagnostic value of chest ultrasound compared to computed tomography (CT) in chest injuries.
The research, presented by student Asmar Haider Khalaf, aims to evaluate the sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and clinical utility of transthoracic ultrasound compared to CT scans in patients with chest injuries.
TTU is a valuable, rapid and accurate tool for diagnosing chest injuries, offering similar diagnostic performance to CT scans with the added benefit of immediate results and reduced patient transfer time. This study supports the incorporation of TTU in the initial evaluation of chest trauma patients to speed up diagnosis and treatment.
