University of Basra receives Japanese Ambassador
The Natural History Museum at the University of Basra received His Excellency the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq in an official visit that reflects the depth of cultural and scientific relations between the two countries.
The visit aimed to review the museum's scientific and educational activities and its role in preserving the biodiversity and natural history of the region, in addition to discussing means of joint cooperation in the environmental and educational fields, especially with regard to climate change and biodiversity.
The visit included a comprehensive tour of the museum, during which he was briefed on the rare exhibits that document the natural life in southern Iraq, in addition to a detailed explanation about scientific projects and taxidermy, including a live demonstration of some samples.
The director of the museum, Dr. Shatha Mohammed Hamza, stressed that the visit of the Japanese ambassador constitutes an important support for expanding the horizons of scientific and cultural cooperation, and explained the museum's interest in opening up to international experiences to benefit from expertise in the field of environmental and historical documentation.
