University of Basra organizes a scientific lecture on measuring uranium concentrations in soils in the north of the province
The Faculty of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on measuring uranium concentrations in soil samples taken from residential, agricultural and oil areas in northern Basra province.
The lecture, presented by student Muslim Jassim Fael, included a demonstration of the use of the neutron activation technique and the CR-39 device to measure uranium concentrations in soil samples prepared in the college's laboratory.
The results showed variations in concentrations, some of which were measured for the first time, and the results were compared with previous studies to assess the extent of radioactive contamination in the region.
