A master's thesis at the University of Basra examines a thermal evaluation to enhance the efficiency of the gas flaring system in Iraq's petroleum industry
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's College of Engineering has investigated a thermal, economic and environmental assessment to enhance the efficiency of the gas flaring system in Iraq's petroleum industry.
The thesis, submitted by student Hamza Abbas Abdul Khader, aims to enhance the efficiency of flaring systems in the Iraqi oil sector, with a special focus on the Rumaila oil field.
The thesis consists of four chapters, during which the student discussed the study of advanced simulation tools such as Flaresim, ANSYS, and MATLAB to analyze key indicators, including thermal radiation, noise levels, and economic losses associated with gas flaring operations. The results highlight effective strategies to reduce harmful emissions, improve combustion efficiency, and recover energy from wasted gas.
