University of Basrah Organizes a Course on Bacterial Diagnosis
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a training course on how to conduct biochemical tests to diagnose bacteria.
The course, presented by Dr. Fadhel Nima Abdul-Ridha and Dr. Sattar Aziz Ghamis, included theoretical and practical training to understand the basic principles of biochemical tests used to identify and classify bacteria based on their metabolic activity and specific enzymes. It also included clinical diagnosis using IMViC tests, correcting test errors, occupational safety considerations when handling samples during work, quality control using control strains such as E. coli and K. pneumoniae, and familiarization with other diagnostic systems such as the API 20E system, as well as the parts and mechanism of operation of the VITEK 2 COMPACT device.
