The Continuing Education Center at the University of Basra held a lecture on scientific supervision of scientific theses and research, as part of the fourth teaching methods course, within the framework of the educational specialization, the eighth unit.
The lecture aimed to familiarize trainees with the concept of scientific supervision of scientific theses and research for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Zainab Faleh Salem, included the definition of scientific supervision, which is the process of guiding and supporting researchers by the specialized scientific supervisor during the preparation of their scientific theses or research projects.
She recommended that the academic supervisor should have distinguished academic and practical experience, and have deep expertise in the field of research that he supervises. Academic supervision should be based on credibility and ethics, and should not violate the privacy of researchers, or exploit the results of their research in the interest of the supervisor.
