For sustainable development in protecting the environment from pollution. University of Basra organizes a workshop on testing micro and nanoplastic pollutants
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a workshop on methods of examining micro and nanoplastic pollutants in marine waters.
The workshop aimed to train researchers on how to monitor and examine these particles and raise their awareness of their danger to the health of marine organisms and human health, as their increasing presence represents a major challenge and danger that causes the failure of sustainable development plans to restore marine ecosystems and biodiversity.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Mohammed Abdul Ridha Jassim, explained the industrial concepts of micro and nanoplastics, laboratory testing methods, estimating the extent of their environmental pollution of water, and their biological impact on organisms, in order to take sound environmental treatments and decisions in the future.
