For sustainable development in marine biodiversity conservation. University of Basra faculty participates in the 5th Baghdad International Water Conference
Ahmed Jasib Jabbar, an instructor at the University of Basra's Marine Science Center, participated in the 5th Baghdad International Water Conference organized by the Ministry of Water Resources from May 24-26 in Baghdad.
He presented a paper titled: "Impact Climate changes on biodiversity in Iraqi," explaining the impact of climate changes on marine biodiversity in Iraq.
The research reviewed data from laboratory tests collected between 2021 and 2022 from Iraqi marine waters, including analysis and measurement of pH, water temperature and salinity levels.
The results of the research showed a positive correlation between the two environmental factors (temperature and salinity) and the animals of jellyfish and benthos directly, and the impact of climate change on fish, snails, quahogs, stingrays, jellyfish and benthos, causing their decline in current years.
