University of Basra participates in a regional workshop on addressing sea level rise
Dr. Wissam Razzaq Mutashar, an instructor at the University of Basra Marine Science Center, participated in a specialized regional workshop entitled "Sea Level Rise - Coastal Resilience and Response" held by the Marine Environment Protection Organization (ROPME) in Kuwait on 27-28 May 2025.
The online participation included a lecture titled "Coastal Resilience and Climate Change Mitigation Strategies in Southern Iraq and the Iraqi Coastal Region".
The lecture aimed to highlight the current environmental changes, especially the increasing penetration of salt tides in the Shatt Al Arab River, and review the solutions proposed by governmental and non-governmental organizations.
