For sustainable development in improving air quality. University of Basra organizes a seminar on used materials in car exhausts
The University of Basra's Marine Science Center organized a seminar on used materials in car exhausts and their role in improving the environment.
The seminar aimed to encourage vehicle drivers to purchase (environmental stone - catalytic converter) in support of the government's plans to sustainably improve air quality and reduce air pollution with carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate pollution.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Mohannad Kazim Taher, reviewed the scientific classification of gases emitted from exhausts, and assessed the ability of materials in the catalytic converter industry such as platinum, palladium and ruthenium to perform chemical transformations to mitigate the toxicity of the emitted gases, and the increasing number of vehicles not equipped with a catalytic converter poses a risk to air quality, which reached about (10) million vehicles according to recent government statistics against a total population of (45) million people.
