University of Basra master's thesis investigates the effect of climate on the basil plant
A master's thesis at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Basra investigated the effect of climate on the concentration of cokerbitacin E extracted from the leaves and fruits of the Iraqi chickweed plant and studied its biological effectiveness.
The study presented by the student Hind Imad Muhammad aimed to study the importance of this substance and know its concentration in the winter and summer seasons and study its effectiveness as an antioxidant, antibacterial and antifungal, and its effect on red blood cells and whether it causes degradation to know the toxicity of this substance.
The study concluded that the substance is effective as an anti-hyperglycemic agent as well as DNA protection.
