University of Basra organizes a course on the use of marine sonar
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basra organized a training course on how to use sonar technology and its applications in marine fields.
The course aimed to train new researchers on how to use marine sonar to take advantage of its advantages in measuring water depths, discovering sunken objects on the sea bottoms, as well as being able to draw detailed maps of the bottoms and determine their characteristics to identify the dangers that sweep the sunken part of the ships.
The course, which was lectured by Dr. Walaa Majeed Khader, included theoretical and practical training in explaining the types of sonar devices and the basics of their work in the marine fields, with a presentation of the device used in the center, how to use it and extract accurate data from it, how to conduct surveys in it, and the most important surveys completed in marine waters and river channels in southern Iraq.
