In support of sustainable development plans in preserving the environment. University of Basra discusses joint cooperation with Basra Tourism Department
The University of Basra's Marine Science Center and the Basra Tourism Department discussed ways of joint cooperation to activate ecotourism in the city, develop sustainable development plans to preserve the environment, support local communities, increase environmental awareness, and provide unique tourist experiences.
The Director General of the Center, Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajil, explained that the two sides discussed several projects, including holding joint workshops, establishing a maritime museum, maintaining the presidential yacht Naseem Basra, and rehabilitating the Harir Scientific Research Station due to its distinctive geographical location overlooking the marshes to attract tourists, visitors and those interested in ecotourism.
