For sustainable development in addressing climate change. University of Basra organizes a seminar on explaining global warming
The Cultural Center, in cooperation with Continuing Education at the University of Basra, organized a seminar on global warming and its impact on climate change.
The seminar, presented by Dr. Shorouk Taleb Abdel Wahab, aimed to raise the awareness of the academic community of the danger of increasing climate warming on the global population and activating social and governmental plans in the field of sustainable development to reduce the rates of continuous increase.
The seminar dealt with a scientific explanation of the emergence of global warming, how it occurs, its effects on human, animal and plant health, the negative impact on ecosystems, biodiversity and natural resources, and the relationship of global warming to the climate changes occurring in many regions of the world that cause drought, desertification and lack of rainfall.
The seminar suggested treatments such as increasing green spaces, preventing over-cutting of forests and obliging oil extraction companies to chemically treat oil and gas waste leaking into the atmosphere.
