University of Basra master's thesis examines the effect of lycopene in improving ram semen qualities
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's Faculty of Agriculture investigated the effect of adding lycopene in improving the qualities of diluted and frozen semen of Arab rams.
The thesis, submitted by student Mashael Mohammed Abdulwahid, aimed to enhance the vitality of sperm and increase their mobility to increase the efficiency of fertilization by artificial insemination.
The study addressed the role of lycopene as an antioxidant in reducing reactive oxygen and free radicals and preserving antioxidants during freezing and thawing.
The results showed that low concentrations improved sperm motility, while high concentrations maintained membrane and endosome integrity.
