University of Basra master's thesis examines land use for irrigation purposes in Al-Tayeb area
A master's thesis at the University of Basra's College of Engineering investigated the suitability of land use for irrigation in Al-Tayeb area in Maysan Governorate, Iraq.
The thesis, submitted by student Sara Haider Mahdi, aims to study the suitability of land for irrigation in Al-Tayeb area in Maysan Governorate, Iraq, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methodology based on Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
The thesis included four chapters in which the researcher discussed the weighted overlay analysis by integrating physical, chemical, and logistical criteria, including soil texture, soil depth, slope, salinity, organic carbon, available water content, land use/land cover, and proximity to rivers and roads.
