Basra University hosts ministerial workshop on strategic agreement with Clarivate
With the direct support of His Excellency Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the University of Basra hosted a specialized workshop organized by the Ministry's Research and Development Department on the strategic agreement signed with Clarivate Analytics, which provides access to the Web of Science scientific databases to support Iraqi universities in publishing and international classification. The workshop aimed to provide a secure and advanced digital environment for teachers and researchers to expand the circle of publication in reputable journals and reliable websites and raise the evaluation of universities in global rankings.
The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Thaer Muneem Hamid, Director of the Entrepreneurial Projects Management Department at the Research and Development Division, and Professor Muhammad Rafid Ahmad, included a review of the mechanisms for activating accounts for teachers and graduate students on the Web of Science platform, as well as details on the use of Clarivate tools such as InCites in supporting reputable scientific publication paths.
The workshop addressed the steps for institutional registration and account activation, how to select reputable journals, and strategies for improving the quality of research and publishing in Iraq in line with global performance indicators.
Dr. Haider Khazaal said that these programs seek to serve researchers and their systematic work by paying attention to their pages and published topics.
He added that the University of Basra competes with other local and international universities in its pursuit of applying the fifth generation in learning, innovation, leadership, artificial intelligence, and evaluating the performance of 3,400 teachers and developing the capabilities of 2,700 graduate students.
