Master's thesis at the University of Basra seeks numerical study of the initiation of inelastic fluid flows through a channel: the finite element method
A master's thesis at the Faculty of Science at the University of Basra examined a numerical study of the initiation of inelastic fluid flows through a channel: the finite element method.
The thesis, submitted by student Ahmed Jamil Ghanem, aimed to study the simulation of inelastic fluid flow due to shear through a rectangular axial channel in the presence of shear viscosity and extensional viscosity models.
The thesis included the presentation of these differential equations in a cylindrical coordinate system. It demonstrated the main idea of how the viscosity of a fluid varies depending on the shear rate or strain rate. It also established an integrated structure for such a problem and presented two additional constitutive inelastic models.
