University of Basrah Organizes Training Course on the Role of Bacteria in Soil and Water
The Marine Science Center at the University of Basrah organized a training course titled “The Role of Pathogenic and Beneficial Bacteria Present in Soil and Water Environments on Human Health.”
The course, delivered by Dr. Ahmed Jari Shabeeb, included an explanation of the vital roles bacteria play in nutrient cycling within soil and water through major biogeochemical processes such as the nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon cycles.
Topics covered included the impact of both beneficial and harmful bacteria on soil health, plant growth, and human well-being; diseases resulting from bacterial contamination of water and soil; the role of bacteria in boosting immunity and improving digestion in humans; and their importance in the production of healthy food.
